Can I have my products installed professionally?

Can I install an overhead rack myself?

Yes. We recommend that you use an authorized SafeRacks installer or qualified handyman, however, if you would like to install the racks yourself, you will need to let the sales representative know what height you would like the racks to hang. This will allow your local distributor to cut the vertical supports for you prior to delivery.

To note:
A The horizontal support hangs 3" below the top of the wire mesh decking. Make sure to leave at least 1" clearance between the bottom of the rack and any objects such as a garage door opener or cabinets.
B Installation instructions are prepared for homeowners who are familiar with the basic installation of shelves, cabinets, and storage racks and who understand and can locate the layout of ceiling joists.

If there are no installers in my area, can I still order from SafeRacks?

Yes! We can always ship products for you to install yourself, or you may locate a local handyman to support your installation.

What are the minimum height requirements for installation?

Since authorized SafeRacks installers customize the racks in your garage, they can adjust the racks to any height you’d like (1" storage or greater).

How long does it take to install an overhead rack?

It will typically take an authorized SafeRacks installer roughly one hour per rack to install.

What is the maximum storage volume of an overhead rack?

On a 4' x 8' rack (our largest), with the height adjusted to 45", the storage volume is 120 cubic feet with an overall weight capacity of 600 pounds.

What tools are required to install an overhead rack?

We recommend the following tools:
Eye Protector
8ft. ladder
Rubber mallet
Cordless drill
3/16 inch drill bit
7/16 inch drill nut driver
7/16 inch open end wrench
Stud-finder (deep scan/ electronic)
Drywall caulking
Measuring tape

What if I order the wrong size, and the installer is unable to fit it in my garage?

SafeRacks is available in 7 different sizes and 3 dropdown lengths. Authorized installers carry additional sizes and quantities when they come to your house. Should you change your mind on the size or quantity of units, the installer will be able to adjust your order and installation while at your home.

If you ordered through another vendor or retailer please make sure you contact them directly. In most cases we are unable to access this information due to limitation with accessible information if the order was placed same-day.

Do you offer same day delivery?

Due to the size and weight of most of our products we can not guarantee that an order would be able to be shipped and delivered with-in one-day. In most cases, it is easiest on our customers that they purchase direct from an installer in-order to have the product delivered and customized to their specific requirements.

Returns and Replacements

Are my SafeRacks products under warranty?

All SafeRacks overhead storage systems come with a limited lifetime product warranty to the original purchaser. Proof of purchase must be provided. Get a copy of the full warranty here.

What is the return policy?

If you purchase a product where the cost of shipping is included in the purchase price (i.e. Free Shipping) and you subsequently return the product we will refund your payment less the cost of outbound shipping.
